The goal of the project was to have a functioning treatment plant operable by September 30, 2009. The mine is located on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountains at an elevation of approximately 7,000 feet.
The work consisted of the following components:
- Raw water conveyance and Pond 4 site work,
- Construction of a high density sludge (HDS) treatment plant,
- Electrical controls,
- Instrumentation installation for the HDS plant, and
- Conveyance construction for the diesel generator fuel supply system.
The project was very challenging due to scheduling, access, and safety concerns. The project was completed on time and on budget with no lost time accidents or first aid cases.
