Project Summary
Construction and commissioning of a nominal 7 megawatt (MW) hydroelectric powerhouse at the base of Friant Dam at Millerton Lake, north of Fresno, California. The facility includes a vertical Francis turbine (with a design flow of 375 cubic feet/second), synchronous generator, and synchronous bypass valve. Project features include: the penstock and shutoff valve vault; draft tube and bypass valve discharge conduit; powerhouse structure and equipment; transmission and substation facilities; ground grid, duct bank; electrical, communication, and control equipment; HVAC equipment and ductwork; air compressor, sump pump, and miscellaneous piping systems; and miscellaneous metals and mechanical work. The work included dewatering; excavation in the existing dam; foundation preparation; cementitious grouting; finish sealing, painting, and waterproofing; finish site work; and startup and commissioning.
