Intern­ship Opportunities

There is no bet­ter way to get a jump on your con­struc­tion career and build a foun­da­tion for suc­cess than through an intern­ship with a rep­utable, indus­try lead­ing firm. Syblon Reid’s intern­ship pro­gram pro­vides men­tor­ing and hands-on, real-world expe­ri­ence while you pur­sue a col­lege degree in con­struc­tion man­age­ment, civ­il engi­neer­ing, or oth­er relat­ed fields. Syblon Reid offers paid intern­ships to enthu­si­as­tic, self-moti­vat­ed stu­dents inter­est­ed in learn­ing all aspects of the heavy civ­il con­struc­tion indus­try. Many of our full-time employ­ees start­ed with an intern­ship at Syblon Reid.

Stu­dent interns work on a vari­ety of tasks, using their class­room knowl­edge to sup­port dif­fer­ent depart­ments at our cor­po­rate office in Fol­som, Cal­i­for­nia and assist our field staff on project sites. Job func­tions may include:

  • Assist­ing in the esti­mat­ing process
  • Attend­ing pre-bid meetings
  • Review­ing plans, spec­i­fi­ca­tions, and oth­er bid documents
  • Per­form­ing quan­ti­ty take-offs
  • Solic­it­ing bids and quotes from sub­con­trac­tors and suppliers
  • Review­ing project sub­mit­tal require­ments and prepar­ing response packages
  • Prepar­ing Requests for Infor­ma­tion (RFIs)
  • Pro­vid­ing tech­ni­cal assis­tance to field personnel

Can­di­dates must be pro­fi­cient in Microsoft Office and have strong com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills and a detail-ori­ent­ed focus. Expe­ri­ence with Blue­beam, Auto­CAD, Microsoft Project, Adobe Acro­bat, Google Earth, and SketchUp is a plus. Can­di­dates must be cur­rent­ly eli­gi­ble to work in the U.S. with­out fur­ther visa sponsorship.


Gain­ing first­hand knowl­edge of the esti­mat­ing process will accel­er­ate, sup­ple­ment, and rein­force what is learned in the class­room. Expe­ri­enc­ing the esti­mat­ing process first-hand is eye-open­ing and reward­ing, whether you’re look­ing to be a full-time esti­ma­tor or a Project Engineer/​Manager. Syblon Reid pro­vides this with their intern­ships, as well as a flex­i­ble sched­ule, auton­o­my, men­tor­ing, and oppor­tu­ni­ties to see projects in the field.”

The Reid Fam­i­ly Scholarship

Since its begin­ning in 1955, the val­ues of the Reid fam­i­ly have enabled Syblon Reid to grow and pros­per by empha­siz­ing the fair treat­ment and respect of clients, employ­ees, and our com­mu­ni­ties. Con­sis­tent with these long-held val­ues is the ide­al of pro­vid­ing per­son­al and pro­fes­sion­al growth oppor­tu­ni­ties for employ­ees and their families.

The Reid Fam­i­ly Schol­ar­ship was cre­at­ed to rec­og­nize and hon­or the Reid family’s con­tri­bu­tions to the suc­cess of Syblon Reid over the past 68 years. These annu­al schol­ar­ships are avail­able to chil­dren of Syblon Reid employees.
