Pumping Plant
The Wykoff Tranquility Lane pumping
plant is located in the northern suburban area of Vacaville, California.
Syblon Reid utilized its "Providing Solutions
to Difficult Projects" strategies to complete this project.
This particular work site was located nestled on
a steep hillside on a one lane road. Careful attention to planning
and detail was required throughout the construction of this three
phase project.
The first phase of this pumping plant structure included
earthwork excavation, recompaction of existing fill, drainage and
demolition of the existing reservoir and appurtenances. In addition,
inlet/outlet pipeline, telephone line conduit and existing water
tanks were removed.
The isolation valve, discharge pipe from the booster
pump station, two disinfected temporary water storage tanks, a temporary
pump and new variable frequency drive (VFD), and a temporary telephone
line to the existing junction box and testing facility were installed.
For phase two, the construction of a new west reservoir
was completed , the installation of a permanent 4" inch, 8"
inch, and 12" inch piping, and an electrical telephone line
conduit was completed. Other crucial elements of this phase included
the testing, flushing and disinfecting of the 4" inch and 8"
inch piping.
For phase three of the pumping plant, construction
of a new east reservoir, new asphalt paving of the site, construction
of a new booster pump station building, instrumentation, and SCADA
appurtenances were completed.
Technical elements of this project included:
- Recompaction of fill and drainage
- Demolition of existing infrastructure
- Installation of an isolation gate valve and discharge
pipe
- Installation and disinfection of two temporary
9,200 gallon water tanks
- Installation of temporary pump and VFD
- Installation of temporary telephone line
- Construction of new east and west reservoir
- Construction of 8" inch W1, 2" inch
OFD piping
- Installation of electrical conduit for telephone
lines
- Testing, flushing and disinfecting of 8"
inch W1 and 4" inch W
