Syblon Reid General Manager
Receives Associated General Contractors (AGC) Contractor Achievement

Folsom, CA June 1, 2002 – Recently, Don Reid, General
Manager of Syblon Reid Contractors, received the 2002
Contractor Achievement Award for his dedication to the
construction industry for over 30 years, throughout
Northern California and Nevada.
Don Reid began his civil engineering career at Syblon Reid Co.,
in Warden, Washington, immediately after attaining a Bachelor
of Science, Civil Engineering Degree, from Oregon State University, in 1972.

The following winter Mr. Reid, along with the team members of Syblon
Reid Co. would successfully complete, which at the time was
the second largest lime treatment project in the United States.
Soon after, in 1970, Syblon Reid would move
to Folsom, California and construct the first mile of the
Folsom South Canal for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. The
contract included construction of headworks structure at Lake
Natoma and a major structure under Highway 50.
In 1978, Don Reid was promoted to Vice President
and began to promote Syblon Reid Co. further in dam, levee
and canal construction, in addition to broadening the company’s
market focus to encompass difficult site work projects, underground
sewer and water construction and rehabilitation, bridge construction,
pumping plant installation and rehabilitation, power and energy
infrastructure construction, treatment facility installation
and rehabilitation, and wetland mitigation. In 1990, after
the retirement of Don Reid’s father, John Reid, Don was appointed
President and General Manager.
Under Don Reid's leadership, Syblon Reid has been active
within its local community. By contributing financial support,
equipment use, and volunteer time to a host of community organizations
including, but not limited to, the Mosquito Volunteer Fire
Department, San Joaquin Flood Control Agency, Folsom Recreation
and Parks Department , El Dorado Livestock Auction, El Dorado
Hills Soccer Club, Eagle Scout Bridge Project, in addition
to local food banks, schools, and homeless shelters.
Mr. Reid’s contributions to the construction industry include
Associated General Contractors (AGC) Representative to California
State License Board Task Force, AGC Delta Sierra Board of
Directors since 1976 and past chairperson in 1988, AGC Collective
Bargaining Committee-North, Construction Industry Crime Prevention
Board of Directors, 1987-2000 and past chairperson in 1988,
AGC Liaison Committee Consulting Engineers and Land Surveyors
of California, and active in a variety of BIA communities.
Awards presented to Mr. Reid, for community contributions,
include El Dorado Hills Community Center Contributor to the
Community 2000, Rotary International Silent Soldier Award
1999, Executive Forums Member of the Year 2000, and Rotary
International Paul Harris Fellow.
Don Reid’s dedication to the construction industry as well
as his devotion to family and community involvement has set
a strong example for others to follow.
Syblon Reid, General Engineering Contractors, formed in 1955
by John Reid and Ray Syblon, has emphasized quality work at
competitive prices on difficult and/or unique construction
projects. Throughout the years Syblon Reid has grown steadily
to meet the expanding engineering construction needs of northern
California and Nevada. Today, Syblon Reid provides design-build
engineering construction services for land, water, utilities
and heavy infrastructure projects.
