72-Inch Raw Water Bypass

The 72-Inch Raw Water Bypass Project provides a facility for the conveyance of raw water to the City of Roseville and San Juan Water District.

The scope of work for this project included:

  • Construction of approximately 3,500 linear feet (LF) of 72-inch diameter welded steel pipeline, including valves, fittings, and other related appurtenances.
  • Construction of approximately 522 LF of 60-inch diameter and 60 LF of 48-inch diameter welded steel pipeline, including two 60-inch butterfly valves, a 48-inch flow meter and vault, fittings, and other related appurtenances.
  • Construction of approximately 460 LF of 42-inch diameter and 150 LF of 72-inch diameter welded steel pipeline, including two 42-inch butterfly valves, a 42-inch flow meter and vault, fittings, and other related appurtenances.
  • Construction of a 12-foot diameter by 121-foot tall surge tower, including foundation, ladder, 72-inch tee and other related appurtenances.
  • Installation of related electrical and instrumentation equipment, including cathodic protection, underground electrical service, a fiber optic duct bank, and surge tower level instrumentation.


The project also included rock excavation for constructing the pipelines and appurtenances, as well as sheeting, shoring, bracing, and other miscellaneous work required to provide a complete operable conveyance facility.

The work was performed in strict compliance with the project-specific Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and other environmental mitigation requirements, including tree removal and replacement.
