The Auburn Municipal Airport accommodates approximately
250,000 flights per year. With so many inbound and outbound
flights the airport required the rehabilitation and expansion
of its runways and taxi ways, in addition to the upgrading
of the existing lighting.
The scope of this project included removal
of pavement, blasting, and excavation of 250,000 cubic yards
from three borrow areas, constructing a new apron area, and
installing new tie-downs.
Fills were placed in the runway
and taxiway extensions, finish grading work, placing base
rock and paving were performed.
Conduit and lights were also installed
throughout the entire runway and the runway was extended to
the east, to the west and widened to meet Federal Aviation
Administration's width standard.
