Wise Tunnel Number 9
There are a multitude of water conveyance tunnels through Pacific Gas and Electric's Hydro Generation territory. Many of which were driven nearly a century ago. Over the course of that time, some of the tunnel features have exceeded their life expectancy and need to be upgraded. During previous inspections, it was noted that there were several voids behind the existing liner in Tunnel No. 9 of the Wise Canal near Auburn, California. Syblon Reid was contracted to repair the liner as necessary and fill the void spaces with pumped cement grout.
Working under Cal OSHA Tunnel Safety Orders, an outage was taken on the tunnel and the work was completed within the two week outage period.
