El Dorado Irrigation District - El Dorado Hills Water Treatment Plant

Syblon Reid under contract with El Dorado Irrigation District upgraded the El Dorado Hills Water Treatment Plant.  The plant improvements comprised of expanding the existing water treatment facility.  The major work was to install new raw water lake pumps in Folsom Lake (500 HP horizontal split case pump and VFD).  Construction also included installation of a new 400,000 gallon raw water tank, existing filter improvements including 100 HP vertical turbine pumps to increase the backwash flow rate of the existing filters.  Also included were new chemical systems to modify treatment from chlorine gas to sodium hypochlorite pH balancing with sodium hydroxide systems housed in a new chemical storage building and tanks.  The project increased the recycled water production with the installation of a plate settler, clarified water pumps and polymer injection system.

Site improvements included 415 feet of architectural finished retaining walls up to 15 feet tall, underground piping modifications, and grading/paving of the plant area.  Along with the physical improvements, a new SCADA and control programming system was installed to allow operation of the facility during the construction period with limited impacts to operations.
