Auburn Airport Upgrades
The Auburn Municipal Airport accommodates about 250,000 flights per year. With so many inbound and outbound flights the airport needed rehabilitation and expansion of its runways and taxi ways, in addition to upgraded lighting. The scope of this project in 2001 included removal of pavement, blasting, and excavation of 250,000 cubic yards from three borrow areas. Syblon Reid constructed a new apron area and installed new tie-downs. The runway was extended 400 feet to the east and 200 feet to the west. It was also widened by 15 feet to meet Federal Aviation Administration's width standard. 30,000 feet of conduit and lights were also installed along the entire runway.
