Company History
In 1955, Ray Syblon and John Reid formed the partnership of Syblon Reid. In 1961, the Syblon Reid Corporation and original operations headquarters moved to Warden, Washington. During the next fifteen years Syblon Reid performed various projects, the majority of which were water projects for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.
In 1970, Syblon Reid moved to Folsom, California to construct the first mile of the Folsom South Canal for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. The contract included the construction of a head works structure at Lake Natoma and a major structure under Highway 50 freeway.
Since 1970, Syblon Reid has maintained its headquarters in Folsom, California. The present Folsom site was purchased in 1974 and the corporate office was built in 1975. In 1972, after graduating from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, John Reid's son, Don began his career as a Project Engineer at Syblon Reid. Within the same year Ray Syblon retired. In 1978, Don became Vice President and continued to grow the business in dam, levee and canal construction. Shortly after Don's promotion to vice president, he broadened the company's services to include design-build delivery, difficult site work and subdivisions, sewer and water construction, wetlands, power and energy infrastructure, underground pipelines and tunnel construction.
John Reid retired in 1990 and Don became President of Syblon Reid. In 1999 long time employees and senior managers Lee Slupianek and Jim Hunt became principal partners of the business.
In 2005, Jim Hunt assumed responsibilities as President and Don Reid became a member of the Board of Directors of Syblon Reid.
Today, Syblon Reid is an employee-owned company that provides custom engineering construction services in the western states.
